The Ins and Outs of the 2022 Summer Transfer Window

West Ham United is reportedly on the brink of signing Borussia Dortmund striker Niclas Füllkrug in a deal worth €26 million plus €4m in add-ons. The 31-year-old has been a top target for new manager Julen Lopetegui, who has been actively pushing for the deal to go through. Füllkrug, who contributed to 20 goals in 29 matches for BVB in the Bundesliga last season, is set to undergo a medical after agreeing to terms on a three-year contract at the London Stadium.

Liverpool is said to be interested in signing Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon for a fee around £80m. The 23-year-old has been a standout performer for the Magpies, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists in 35 Premier League matches last season. Gordon is one of the names on Liverpool’s shortlist this summer, as they are also looking to strengthen their defense with a center-back and a defensive midfielder.

Juventus is currently ahead in the race to sign Nice center-back Jean-Clair Todibo, as reported by Gianluca Di Marzio. The 24-year-old has expressed his preference to join manager Thiago Motta’s side, putting the Bianconeri ahead of West Ham in the pursuit. Todibo, who is also on Bologna’s radar, could be a key addition to Juventus’ defense for the upcoming season.

Paris Saint-Germain’s attacking midfielder Xavi Simons is set to return to RB Leipzig on loan for another season, according to Le Parisien. The 21-year-old impressed during his time at the Bundesliga club last campaign but no permanent option clause has been included in the deal. Simons, who was a standout player for the Netherlands at the recent European Championship, will look to continue his development with Leipzig in the upcoming season.

Stade Rennais winger Désiré Doué is reportedly leaning towards a move to Bayern Munich over Paris Saint-Germain. Personal terms have already been agreed between the club and the 19-year-old, but Bayern Munich is yet to make a formal approach to PSG. Manager Vincent Kompany is looking to finalize some other deals before submitting an offer, which is expected to be in the range of €55m to €60m.

Overall, the summer transfer window is heating up with several big deals on the horizon. Clubs like West Ham United, Liverpool, Juventus, RB Leipzig, and Bayern Munich are actively looking to strengthen their squads ahead of the upcoming season. It will be interesting to see how these potential transfers unfold and impact the landscape of European football in the months to come.
