Charlotte FC is on the verge of securing the services of Tim Ream, a seasoned defender from the United States men’s national team and Fulham. The talks between the MLS club and Ream have been ongoing for over two months, and they are now in the final stages of finalizing the deal. With Ream’s contract with Fulham running until 2025, Charlotte will need to pay an undisclosed transfer fee to bring him over from the English team.
Tim Ream’s journey in Europe began when he joined Fulham from Bolton Wanderers in 2015. Over the years, he has amassed an impressive 312 appearances for the club. Despite a setback due to a calf injury during the 2023-24 season, Ream managed to contribute one goal in 18 matches across various competitions. His performances on the field earned him a significant role in the USMNT setup, where he has earned 56 caps and featured prominently in the 2022 Qatar World Cup and the 2024 Copa América.
Charlotte FC’s head coach, Dean Smith, has identified the need for an experienced left-footed center back in the team, and Tim Ream fits the bill perfectly. Once the deal is finalized, Ream is expected to play a crucial role in Charlotte’s defense, adding stability and composure to the backline.
