Atlético Madrid Negotiating Deals for Le Normand and Hancko

Atlético Madrid is on the verge of signing Real Sociedad defender Robin Le Normand in a deal worth approximately €30 million ($32m), according to sources familiar with the negotiations. The 27-year-old, who hails from France, has reportedly agreed to join Atlético this summer, while competing at Euro 2024 with Spain. Le Normand has just completed his fifth season at Real Sociedad, where he made a total of 47 appearances in various competitions, including seven in the Champions League.

Sources have indicated that Atlético was successful in persuading Real Sociedad executives to reduce their initial asking price from €35m, leading to a more straightforward transfer process. Furthermore, talks between the two clubs are ongoing regarding Atlético defender Javi Galán, potentially extending his loan spell at Real Sociedad. Atlético’s manager Diego Simeone has emphasized the need to bolster the team’s defensive line after conceding 43 goals in 38 LaLiga matches last season.

Pursuit of Hancko and Defensive Reinforcements

In addition to Le Normand, Atlético is also in discussions to secure the services of Feyenoord center-back Dávid Hancko. The Slovakia international is keen on a move to LaLiga, although the two clubs have yet to reach a consensus on the transfer fee. Atlético made an initial offer of €20m, however, Feyenoord is holding out for a fee exceeding €30m. Despite the current standoff, Atlético remains hopeful of reaching an agreement but is exploring alternative options should negotiations falter.

Atlético’s pursuit of Le Normand and Hancko stems from the departure of veteran defender Stefan Savić, who terminated his contract, and Mario Hermoso, who declined a contract extension. Turkish defender Caglar Söyüncü is also expected to leave the club, further necessitating defensive reinforcements. Manager Simeone is adamant about fortifying the backline to address the defensive lapses observed in the previous season.

Atlético Madrid’s proactive approach in the transfer market signals their intent to strengthen the squad ahead of the upcoming campaign. With negotiations progressing for Le Normand and Hancko, Atlético aims to solidify their defensive options and address key departures. The outcome of these transfer talks will undoubtedly shape Atlético’s defensive setup for the season ahead.
