Manchester City Demands £40 Million for Ederson Transfer

Manchester City is standing firm on their valuation of goalkeeper Ederson, demanding offers in excess of £40 million for his transfer. Despite interest from Al Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League, City will only consider bids that match their asking price. Ederson, who has been a key player under Pep Guardiola for seven seasons, still has two years remaining on his contract.

Both Al Ittihad and Al Nassr have shown interest in acquiring Ederson, but their valuations of around £25 million have fallen short of City’s demands. In fact, Al Nassr recently signed goalkeeper Bento from Athletico Paranaense for a deal that runs through 2027. The lure of tripling his current salary has tempted Ederson to consider a move to Saudi Arabia, where he could become the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world.

Despite the potential departure of Ederson, Guardiola remains confident in backup goalkeeper Stefan Ortega. Ortega, who recently signed an extension until 2026, has shown promise with 20 appearances in all competitions last season, including a standout performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League. City’s squad for their upcoming U.S. tour includes both Ederson and Ortega, alongside star players like Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish.

City’s squad also includes midfielder Kalvin Phillips, who spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham. While City are open to Phillips’ departure if a £20 million valuation is met, his future at the club remains uncertain. However, sources indicate that City expect Kevin De Bruyne to stay put this summer despite rumors linking him to Al Ittihad. De Bruyne, fresh off his Euro 2024 campaign with Belgium, may consider a move to Saudi Arabia in the future, but a transfer this summer seems unlikely.

This new article takes a comprehensive look at Manchester City’s stance on Ederson’s potential transfer, highlighting key aspects such as the club’s valuation, interest from Saudi clubs, backup options, and the futures of other players like Kalvin Phillips and Kevin De Bruyne. It provides a fresh perspective on the situation and offers insights into the club’s transfer strategy and player management.
