Manchester United are reportedly looking to bolster their midfield by targeting Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte. The 23-year-old Uruguayan has caught the attention of the Red Devils as they seek to add depth to their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
It is not the first time that Manchester United have shown interest in Ugarte. The club had closely monitored him during his time at Sporting Lisbon before he made his move to PSG last summer in a deal worth £50 million. With 37 appearances under his belt last season, including 25 in Ligue 1, Ugarte has proven himself on the field.
United’s pursuit of Ugarte comes amid uncertainties surrounding the future of defensive midfielder Casemiro. The Brazilian, who had a challenging season at Old Trafford, is one of the club’s top earners and has a contract until 2026. However, reports suggest that he might be on the move, with Saudi Arabia being touted as a potential destination.
In addition to Ugarte, Manchester United are also working on securing deals for other players. Jarrad Branthwaite and Joshua Zirkzee are on their radar, with Everton demanding a hefty fee for Branthwaite. The club is also eyeing defenders Leny Yoro and Marc Guéhi, both of whom have impressed in their respective teams.
With the search for a striker ongoing, United are considering options such as Jonathan David from Lille and Ivan Toney from Brentford. Zirkzee is another name being floated around as a potential addition to the squad. As the transfer window progresses, Manchester United will be looking to strengthen various areas of their team to compete at the highest level.
