Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United Dealt Blow in Transfer Market

The summer transfer market has already thrown a wrench in the plans of Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United with news that Benjamin Sesko is set to sign a new contract at RB Leipzig. Despite attracting interest from several top European clubs, the 21-year-old forward looks likely to remain in Germany for at least another season.

After an impressive season that saw Sesko score 18 goals across all competitions, it’s no surprise that multiple Premier League sides were considering triggering his €65 million release clause. However, talks between the player and Leipzig have progressed well, leading to the likelihood of a new and improved contract that would see the release clause replaced.

Sesko, eager to have his future sorted before Euro 2024 kicks off, looks set to stay put amid negotiations with his current club. While no official announcement has been made yet, sources suggest that a decision could be finalized in the coming days, leaving Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United to explore other options in the transfer market.

With Sesko out of the picture, Arsenal will need to shift their focus to other potential signings. Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, and Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee are among the alternatives being considered by the Gunners. However, moves for Gyökeres and Isak could prove costly, with Zirkzee also presenting a €40 million release clause.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have long been interested in Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. However, doubts have been raised over the club’s financial capacity to pull off another expensive deal as they aim to adhere to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules. This uncertainty could force the Blues to explore other options in the market.

The news of Benjamin Sesko’s likely contract extension at RB Leipzig has put a damper on the transfer plans of Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United. With the forward set to stay in Germany, the Premier League clubs will need to look at alternative targets to bolster their squads ahead of the upcoming season.
